Going out in Bangkok

Things to do alone in Bangkok at night: comedy, quizzes and games

You can go out before the group chat agrees on a date. Here’s how to find a seat, join a quiz team or get into a game when you arrive on your own.

Comedy shows, pub quizzes that accept individual players, and hosted board-game nights give you something to do alone in Bangkok after dark. The choice depends on how much conversation you want. At comedy, you can settle into the audience. A quiz or game puts you around a table with people and gives you something to talk about.

The awkward part is usually arriving. A venue can advertise a social evening without explaining whether anyone will help you join in. Below are places with published arrangements for solo visitors, plus advice for choosing a comedy show.

Schedules and organiser information checked on 5 October 2026. Use the linked calendars and organiser pages for your date. Crimson Cat’s October cancellations are noted below.

Choose how much joining in you want

Go to a comedy show on your own

A comedy show gives your evening a start time and something to watch. Book a ticket for one, arrive before the performance, and ask the door staff where to sit. If the booking page sells tables or packages, check whether individual seats are available before paying.

The Comedy Club Bangkok runs English-language stand-up and improv above The Royal Oak on Sukhumvit 33/1, in the Phrom Phong area. Its organiser says shows are in English unless otherwise specified. Choose the actual show and check its venue: the same organiser also puts on performances elsewhere.

For a Tuesday option, Level Up at Gaston Bistro & Bar is an open mic on the lower-lobby floor of the Grand Hyatt Erawan, near BTS Chit Lom Exit 2. The published start time is 20:00. Current listed prices are ฿300 in advance or ฿400 at the door, including a drink. Follow the show page for the booking link and your date’s terms.

An open mic is where comedians try material. Some jokes will work better than others, which is part of the evening. Being in the audience does not sign you up to perform; performer registration is separate.

If you are worried about audience participation, read the format before booking. A roast, an interactive game show and a stand-up showcase ask different things of an audience. Tell the host if you would rather watch quietly and ask about seating. A particular row is no guarantee that a comedian will leave you alone.

Find a pub quiz that will help you join a team

For a solo visitor, team arrangements matter more than the size of the jackpot. Arriving with excellent knowledge of obscure British television is less useful if you spend the evening at an empty table.

The Sportsman: join a regular team

The Sportsman’s quiz runs on Tuesdays at 20:00 on Sukhumvit Soi 13. Its own page invites people to join one of the regular teams. Get there before the questions start and ask the quiz host which team has room. The page does not state a quiz entry fee, so ask about that and allow for whatever you order.

The Deck: book ahead and say you are coming alone

The Deck on Sukhumvit Soi 20 explicitly welcomes solo quiz players. Its Thursday quiz starts at 19:45, with registration from 19:00. The venue recommends reserving because tables fill up. When booking, say you are one person and ask how team matching works. Its website gives BTS Asok Exit 6 as the transport reference. Check current entry and spending terms when reserving.

Slow Trivia Sundays: the host offers to find you a team

Slow Social Club advertises Sunday trivia at Santi Social Space at 18:30, with free entry and help finding a team for people who come alone. Santi is on Sukhumvit 66/1 near BTS Udom Suk. Check the dated announcement before setting off; our current published Sunday schedule runs through 25 October.

See the Bangkok quiz-night calendar for these listings and other options. If another quiz looks good but says nothing about individual players, message the host before reserving a table.

Join a hosted game night

Look for a named session with a host and a start time. A cafe might have a shelf full of games while everyone inside is already playing with friends. Ask whether the organiser puts newcomers into games and explains the rules.

Slow Social’s Saturday games and karaoke at Santi starts at 17:30. Entry is free, with visitors asked to support the venue. Its current October listing gives you an early-evening option in the Udom Suk area. Find the host when you arrive and ask which game you can join.

Arriving near the start is useful. You can hear the rules with everyone else, instead of interrupting a table halfway through a game and being handed a character whose motives require a short lecture.

Crimson Cat at Treehouse: check the return date

Crimson Cat says its hosts help people arriving alone find a table. Its usual Saturday game night at Treehouse, on Sukhumvit 31, runs from 18:00 to 21:00. The advertised ฿350 walk-in price includes a drink, and visitors can arrive and leave flexibly.

October update: Crimson Cat has cancelled 3 and 10 October 2026 because of flooding. The organiser hopes to return on 17 October, but that is tentative. Check its latest announcement before making plans.

Our board-game calendar links to the organisers and lists entry terms. For help choosing between casual games, strategy, chess and role-playing, read our guide to Bangkok’s quiz and game-night crowds.

Send one message before your first visit

For a quiz or game night, a useful message is: “I’m coming on my own. Can you help me join a team or table, and what time should I arrive?” That is enough; you do not need to write the host your life story.

Check the full cost too. Free entry may come with a request to buy food or drinks, and a ticket including one drink does not cover everything else you order. If you want an alcohol-free evening, ask about soft-drink options and any minimum spend.

Choose somewhere you can get to without spending half the evening crossing Bangkok. Check the map pin, building and floor, then plan your journey home around the likely finish time. A familiar venue name is not enough when an organiser uses several rooms.

Start with a date in the comedy calendar, quiz calendar or game-night calendar, then open the organiser’s latest announcement before you leave.
