Going out in Bangkok

Bangkok hostels and hotels with activities

Bangkok hostels love to promise daily activities. We read 78 hostel and hotel websites to see which ones say what, when and for how much. Three hostels and five hotels publish a real timetable, and the fullest free programme we found is at a five-star hotel.

This week someone on r/ThailandTourism asked for social hostels in Bangkok. It made us wonder which places build the stay around things to do: a cooking class, a Muay Thai session, a boat up the river, a quiz. Plenty of websites say "daily events" and stop there. Below are the ones that put days, times and prices on their own website, then the ones that say less, then hotels that run their own paid classes, then the stays where the activity is the whole point.

Everything here is from each hostel's or hotel's own website on 4 November 2026, and every place was open on Google Maps that day. Programmes change, so ask reception before you plan a day around one.

Hostels with a weekly timetable

Lub d Bangkok Siam, next to National Stadium BTS

The longest list of any hostel, and most of it free. Lub d's events page lists:

  • Every day: a Moo Kra Ta night from 18:00 to 21:00, free. The hostel lends the grill pans; you buy the food at 7-Eleven. A nightlife shuttle leaves at 21:00 for ฿100, and there is an ice bath from 14:00 to 17:00 for ฿150.
  • Monday: runners' club at 7:00, free.
  • Tuesday: a Chao Phraya river trip at 12:45, you pay your own way.
  • Wednesday: Quad Games at 17:00, free.
  • Thursday: a language exchange with Bangkokevents from 20:00, ฿400.
  • Friday: a beer pong tournament at 19:00, free.
  • Saturday: BKK Golden Heights at 17:00, you pay your own way.

A bed in a four-bed mixed dorm was ฿399 on the hostel's own site. The site says you can get some work done in the social spaces; Lub d's co-working pages are for its Phuket and Manila branches.

A shorter programme, all in the late afternoon. Catch it if you can is on Tuesday at 17:00, a Learn Thai Basics class on Wednesday at 16:30, BKK Golden Heights on Thursday at 17:00 and Citylympic on Friday at 17:00, all free. The Tuk Tuk City Explore trip on Wednesday at 17:30 costs ฿699. An eight-bed dorm was ฿378. Lub d's Silom branch, still in older guides, is permanently closed.

Mad Monkey Bangkok, Rambuttri Village by Khaosan

The party option, and honest about it. Mad Monkey's events page runs a meet-up every night (the hostel page says 19:00, with half-price beer), then a pub quiz on Monday, music bingo on Tuesday, karaoke on Wednesday, beer pong on Thursday, a throwback party and mini pub crawl on Friday and a foam party and pub crawl on Saturday. The nightly events are "price on the day". A tuk-tuk and city tour goes out on Wednesday and Saturday from $10.39. Its hostel page disagrees on two nights, listing Beats & Bingo on Tuesday and a pool party and barbecue on Saturday. There is a pool and a gym, and dorm beds start from $17.80.

Hostels with activities but no timetable

Revolution Khaosan by The Bliss

Calls itself "Thailand's #1 party hostels", and runs a pub crawl every Wednesday and Saturday from the hostel bar at 20:30. Tickets are ฿600 on Ticketmelon and anyone can buy one, guest or not; the bar crawls page has the dates on sale. The rest is daily beer pong and flip cup, pool parties at weekends, and tipsy bingo, bucket olympics and karaoke "weekly", with no days given.

Jam Hostel, Phra Sumen Road

Jam's activities are free; you split the transport and pay any entry tickets. Every Monday at 16:00 the staff take guests to Wat Arun for meditation in English and to meet local kids. Wakeboarding is every Wednesday at 11:00, and a walking tour goes "on random days". Its FAQ admits there is no fixed schedule and says to ask at reception. On r/ThailandTourism last year someone put it simply: "Mad Monkey if you're looking for a party environment. Jam Hostel if you're looking for a peaceful Hostel."

The Yard, Ari

A garden hostel seven minutes' walk from Ari BTS, with yoga "semi-regularly", free for guests, plus movie nights, barbecues, cooking classes and clothes swaps. Its events page was empty when we looked. The Yard is also the one to pick if you are bringing a laptop: the Living Room is set up for co-working and the hostel says the wifi was built with digital nomads in mind. One Redditor called it "much more laid back ... actually on the BTS line."

Four more that say less

  • Hom Hostel & Cooking Club, Sukhumvit Soi 3: a free Thai cooking demo every day and a free Thai breakfast. The website looks unchanged since about 2016, so ask whether the demo still runs.
  • C'House, by Hua Lamphong: a cooking class twice a week, an afternoon walk to Chinatown and a board game night. No days or prices.
  • Bodega Soi 23, a few steps from Asok BTS: "activities every night of the week", meaning pub crawls, market tours, city tours, bike rides and drinking games.
  • NapPark, off Khaosan: a list of Ayutthaya trips, long-tail boats, Muay Thai, cooking, karaoke and Thai lessons, with no dates on any of them.

Hotels that give guests a free timetable

The Peninsula Bangkok

The Peninsula's daily wellness schedule is the fullest free programme we found anywhere, hostels included. Every day starts with meditation or yoga at 6:00 (a monk leads it on Thursdays, and on Saturdays it is sunrise yoga at the Gong Wu shrine), then Tak Bart alms giving at 7:00. Then, by day:

  • Muay Thai on Monday from 14:00 to 14:45 and Friday from 18:00 to 19:00.
  • Green curry classes on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 15:00; dim sum on Wednesday and Friday at 15:00.
  • A trip called Connecting with Thonburi on Wednesday from 10:30 to 13:30 and Saturday from 13:30 to 16:00.
  • Mocktail or kombucha making every day at 16:00, rucking on Thursday morning, and pickleball or tennis on some evenings.

You book each one through the wellness concierge on +66 2 020 2888. Over-16s can go on their own, 12 to 15 with an adult, and there are junior classes for 5 to 11.

Kimpton Maa-Lai, Soi Tonson

The Kimpton's gym page promises free daily classes, and the November timetable puts most of them at 14:00. Thai boxing is on 5, 7, 9, 11, 14, 20, 24 and 28 November, and a class is cancelled if fewer than two people sign up. The Kimpton Run Club leaves the concierge desk at 7:00 on the first and third Sunday of the month.

Mandarin Oriental, on the river

A sheet headed "Complimentary Fitness and Yoga Sessions", linked from the hotel's wellness page, gives yoga every day from 8:00 to 8:45 and beginners' Muay Thai on Wednesday and Saturday from 12:00 to 12:45. The sheet has no date on it. The famous cooking school costs extra: the Thai Cooking Masterclass runs Friday to Tuesday with 72 hours' notice, ฿4,900 a person in a group or ฿8,000 private, plus 10% service and tax.

The Sukhothai, South Sathorn Road

One 45-minute class at 12:00 every day, with boxing on Mondays. The 2024 schedule called them complimentary for hotel guests; the October 2026 one only says "Terms and Conditions Apply", so ask.

The Athenee, Wireless Road

The Athenee's concierge programme is free for guests and runs on fixed days. Muay Thai with an instructor in the open-air Sky Garden is on Monday and Wednesday from 18:00 to 19:00. Lotus folding or pandan-leaf craft is on Thursday and Saturday from 15:00 to 16:00. On Friday and Sunday at the same time there is a 40-minute heritage tour about Kandhavas Palace, a former royal residence, with Thai dress to wear for it. A lotus-petal snack, mieng dok bua, is served every day from 17:30 to 18:30.

The ones with a list but no times

  • Four Seasons lists free cultural activities for guests: jasmine garlands, Thai calligraphy, lotus folding, sketching and a Muay Thai fitness class. No timetable.
  • Banyan Tree's Wellbeing Sanctuary package includes "daily access to complimentary wellbeing activities" and morning yoga by the pool. The concierge has the schedule.
  • The Westin Grande Sukhumvit announced free Thai boxing for guests on Saturdays and Sundays from 11:00 to 12:30 in a July 2025 press release. Its own website would not load for us, so we could not check it is still on.

Hotels that run their own paid classes

These hotels teach the class themselves, in their own kitchen, gym or boat, and charge on top of the room. Trips that a hotel hands to an outside tour company are left out.

Cooking

Anantara Riverside's Spice Spoons class starts with the hotel chef taking you to the market by tuk-tuk, then you cook four recipes in the resort's own kitchen or on a restored rice barge. The classic version runs from 8:00 to 13:30 for ฿3,500++ a person; the market and river version starts at 7:30 and costs ฿4,950++. Under-14s are ฿500++, and fruit carving can be added for ฿200++. It needs two people and 48 hours' notice. The web page says the class finishes at 13:00; the June 2026 flyer says 13:30.

  • Rosewood, connected to Phloen Chit BTS: lunch and a Thai cooking class with Mama Bua at Lakorn, the hotel's Thai restaurant, with a visit to its "secret garden". Daily by appointment, ฿3,300 a person plus tax and service.
  • Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit, Asok: four dishes in the kitchen of basil, its Thai restaurant. The group class is on Saturday from 13:30 to 16:30 for ฿3,000 net, two to six people; one-to-one is Monday to Saturday from 14:30 to 17:30 for ฿4,000. Book a day ahead and pay in advance; there are no refunds. The tickets on sale now are valid until 11 November, so check for new ones.
  • Dusit Thani, Rama IV Road: a cooking class with chefs from its Pavilion restaurant on Wednesdays and Saturdays "subject to availability", with 72 hours' notice and a minimum of two. No price is published. The hotel also runs a flower-arranging workshop for ฿1,990 net, and Thai dance, mini Muay Thai and Thai writing for children.
  • Siam Kempinski, Siam: a private three-hour class, three dishes, from ฿4,494 until 31 December. It is listed on the GHA DISCOVERY loyalty site, not on Kempinski's own.
  • Dusit Princess Srinakarin, out on the Yellow Line: a market visit and cooking class with the hotel chef, daily from 13:00 to 15:00, from ฿1,200 net, until 31 December. The cheapest hotel class we found.

Muay Thai

The InterContinental, connected to Chit Lom BTS, has a boxing ring in its gym on the 36th floor. A 90-minute session runs any time from 10:00 to 19:00 and costs ฿2,200++ with a personal trainer or ฿2,800++ with a professional coach.

  • The Siam, Dusit: a class in its own Muay Thai gym from ฿3,300, with use of the gym, steam room and sauna, between 9:30 and 19:00. This one is also on GHA DISCOVERY rather than the hotel's own site.
  • Pullman King Power, near Victory Monument BTS: a private 75-minute session at its spa, ฿2,800 for one or ฿4,200 for two, with 24 hours' notice.
  • Pathumwan Princess, by MBK: a full-size ring at The Olympic Club on the 8th floor and classes "for all levels". No price or times are published, so ask the hotel.

On the river

Chakrabongse Villas, across the water from Wat Arun, takes guests out at sunset in its own classic Riva speedboat, through the Thonburi canals in a private longtail with a guide, and canoeing at midnight on request. No prices are published.

Stays where the activity is the point

Muay Thai camps with a bed

Khongsittha (KST) in Lat Phrao trains Tuesday to Saturday at 8:00 and 15:00 and puts you in a 30 square metre room at the resort behind the gym. Three days cost ฿6,000 in a single room or ฿5,400 in a double, seven days ฿13,300 or ฿11,970, and fourteen days ฿24,500 or ฿22,050. The thirty-day rate of ฿28,000 leaves out a ฿10,000 deposit, cleaning and utilities. Meals are extra, and you have to stay the full month if you want a fight.

Sitsongpeenong in Prawet includes two meals and two sessions a day (7:00 and 14:00, Monday to Saturday) in the room price: from $75 a night single or $51.56 twin share, plus taxes and fees. Foreign visitors can only train there if they stay, apart from a one or two session try-out.

Sor Vorapin in Taling Chan does training at 8:30 and 15:30, two meals and a private air-conditioned room for ฿1,700 a day, ฿10,500 a week or ฿40,000 a month. Its price table converts at 34.5 baht to the dollar, so it may be old.

To watch rather than train, the Muay Thai calendar has the stadium nights.

A night in a teak house, with a cooking class

The Thai House in Nonthaburi picks you up from your Bangkok hotel at about 8:00, takes you along the canals by boat, teaches five dishes, puts you up for the night in a teak house and, "if available", takes you out by boat in the morning to give alms to a monk. One day and one night is ฿12,800 a person, two days ฿18,300 and three days ฿24,450. The bathrooms are shared.

Bang Krachao, the green bit across the river

Bangkok Tree House is a car-free hotel among the trees of Bang Krachao. Its activities cost extra: a three-hour bike tour for ฿750 a person (two minimum) and a palm forest boat trip for ฿699 (four minimum). At the other end of the price range, also in Bang Krachao, RAKxa sells medical wellness programmes from three nights, and the two it prices start at ฿400,000 a person.

A day of wellness, or a month of work

The Siam's Quick Fix Wellness is one night in a suite with private yoga, guided meditation, Ayurveda and Reiki, from ฿27,000 for one or ฿38,500 for two, plus 17.7% tax and service. At the other end, UnionSPACE on Ekkamai rents capsule beds with a 24-hour co-working space for ฿600 a night (฿450 if you stay over a month) and promises invitations to community events, with no dates published.

Out of date online

  • Slumber Party Hostel Bangkok is permanently closed and its website is gone, but it is still on 2026 "best hostels" lists.
  • Lub d Silom is permanently closed.
  • The Standard's "Bar Crawl Into Bed" package page is still up and ended on 30 December 2024.
  • Attachai Muay Thai on On Nut Soi 36 is permanently closed.
  • Once Again Hostel's old address, onceagainhostel.com, now sends you to a gambling site. The hostel is open and moved to onceagainhostel.co.

If you'd rather keep the bed and the night out separate

Anywhere you stay, the bar crawls, board game nights, quiz nights, dance socials and comedy shows are open to anyone, most of them for the price of a drink. If you are travelling alone, going out alone in Bangkok says which rooms make it easy to join in.
