Dance nights and open workshops in Bangkok

How this page works

The calendar is one row, Monday to Sunday, because almost everything here happens every week. Every night on it is a social or an open workshop that anyone can walk into, read on the organiser's own page. Each card gives the class time and the party time (the organisers separate them, so we do), the price as they state it and what it includes, the music you will hear, and who runs it. Studio timetables are not here: most gyms teach a dance class, and a weekly course is not a night out. A studio appears when it opens its doors for a party or a one-off workshop.

Nobody on this page needs a partner. That is the first line of nearly every listing, and the reason the Latin nights have grown: the class at the start rotates partners, and by the time the party begins you have danced with everyone in the room. Reddit's long thread on why nobody dances in Bangkok's clubs ("you go with friends and don't mingle") describes the opposite of these nights, which is why they fill.

The music ratios on the cards are the organisers' own. Bangkok is a bachata city: Sunday's biggest night plays three bachata to one salsa, and a Reddit regular who wanted salsa "stopped going". If you want salsa first, Thursday at Spicy Sombrero and Saturday at R Bar are your nights. If you want kizomba and nothing else, Tuesday at Euphoria.

The nights, by style

Salsa, bachata and kizomba: a night for every day of the week

The Latin scene runs on three or four organisers who share DJs, teachers and rooms. Social Dance Bangkok posts the week's schedule every Monday on Instagram and runs Sunday's Bachata Fever on the rooftop of the Paradox hotel on Soi 15 with Bangkok Baila Group, the school behind the BBG studio on Soi 13: two free workshops at 20:00, party to midnight, 300 THB with a soft drink, 140 to 180 dancers most weeks and a record 200 on 18 October 2026. BBG's studio takes Friday with Latin Glow (200 THB, bachata and kizomba, every Friday but the last). Bangkok Community Events and DJ Henry Knowles run Salsa On Saturday at R Bar in the Renaissance hotel, free with a drink and a free class at 20:00, and the first-Saturday Bangkok Latin Saturdays at the rumPUREE studio in Asok.

Monday is Bachata On Mondays upstairs at Hemingway's on Soi 11 (class 20:00, party 21:00, 150 to 450 THB depending on the class), the night Reddit sends people to. Tuesday is Latin Soul at the Red Door on Sukhumvit 24 (class 20:15, 300 THB with the class) and the free Barrio Latino at REVO in the Holiday Inn Silom, where SJ teaches salsa at 19:00 and bachata at 20:00 before a party with a live band. SJ also runs Notche Latina on Wednesdays at Catrika on Sukhumvit 22 (workshops 300 THB, party free). Thursday is Salsa Fever at Spicy Sombrero, the Argentinian couple Diego y Sofi's salsa-first night, newly moved to the Mexican restaurant between Soi 13 and 15. Wednesday's Above Eleven rooftop night is free and on both community calendars, though the bar's own Instagram does not advertise it, so take the hours as the calendar's word.

Kizomba has two nights of its own. Afro-Kiz Tuesday at Euphoria, a second-floor lounge at the Asok intersection, is 100% kizomba from DJ Ploy with a workshop at 20:00 and a party for 150 THB before 21:30. Kizomba Connection Wednesdays, from Reynan and Pon, who have taught it in Bangkok since 2018, is on the Flava Lite rooftop of the Night Hotel on Soi 15, two workshops and a party from 250 THB. The old aggregator listings put Kizomba Connection on Thursdays at Saint of Salt; that has gone.

The monthly one is the Salsa Bangkok Party, on the last Friday, at a different room each month, by the people who have kept salsabangkok.com's calendar since 1999. October's is a Halloween night at Catrika on 30 October. The rest of the Latin week empties out for it, which is why Latin Glow skips the last Friday.

Swing: Silom and Ari

The Hop has run swing socials up a narrow staircase on Silom Road since 2012, Tuesdays and Saturdays: a half-hour Try Swing class at 20:00 for people who have never danced, then the floor until about 23:00, with a second room on the rooftop on Saturdays for blues or balboa and live bands on special nights. You book through a form and pay by transfer or cash at the door; the form tells you to check the night's price. Its four-week Lindy Hop course for beginners runs on Tuesday or Saturday afternoons. Jelly Roll Jazz Club in Ari is the other room, Sundays from 17:30 and Wednesdays from 21:00, teaching in Thai and English; its site blocks automated reading, so ask on Line @jellyroll for the price. The two of them stage the free public swing days you may have seen photos of: Yaowarat Swing Dance in Chinatown every September, Step into Swing at Hua Lamphong station, and the Lumpini Grand Ball with the city. Rhythm Juice, a newer Thai-run school, runs two-hour Dance in a Day beginner workshops (690 THB) and a first-Friday party at The Hop (6 November, 500 THB pre-sale).

One Reddit regular, a Thai returnee, found the swing crowd hard to break into after a year; the organisers say beginners and old hands mix. Both can be true of a scene that has danced together for fourteen years. Go on a Saturday with a live band.

Argentine tango: three small nights

The Saturday milonga that anchored Bangkok tango for a decade has ended, and every milonga in the international directories is dead. What is left is new and small. Milonga Tango Mondays at GASTON, the French bistro in the lower lobby of the Grand Hyatt Erawan, is a class at 19:00 and a milonga from 20:00 to 23:30 led by Pia Krassner, 400 THB with a drink, reserve a seat. Tango With Trainers at Euphoria on the second and fourth Wednesdays is the opposite mood: come in trainers, free beginner class at 19:00, 350 THB with a drink, music "from D'Arienzo to Dua Lipa". El Abrazo, Ann's practilonga at the rumPUREE studio in Asok, is the survivor from the old scene, one or two Sundays a month from 17:00, with a beginners' course on Saturday afternoons feeding it. The Tango Bangkok Thailand Facebook group (2,200 members) is where visiting teachers announce classes.

Ballroom: lessons, Thai floors and the Lumphini Hall nights

Ballroom in Bangkok is private lessons and Thai pensioners, and neither publishes a social night we can put a time on. Fred Astaire Dance Studios opened Asia's first franchise on the eighth floor of the Kian Gwan III building on Wireless Road: private lessons by appointment, an introductory lesson offer, eighteen styles from waltz to West Coast swing, no public events. MODA on the ninth floor of 42 Tower at Sukhumvit 42 runs a monthly group timetable of waltz, rumba, cha cha and tango levels with a "social dance" slot for students. The Bangkok city youth and recreation centres teach ลีลาศ free in rounds, and the Thai floors where their students go afterwards are at Yok Yor in Khlong San (floor from 19:00), The Greet on Ram Intra and Krua Pruksa on Kanlapaphruek: a mostly Thai crowd, mostly over fifty, karaoke and ballroom in turns, and a welcome for anyone who can dance a cha cha. Dance does not need the language. The one public ballroom event is Bangkok Ballroom Dance at Lumphini Hall, a free big-band night from the city's music division with online registration capped at 300; it ran in May, July and August 2026 and will be listed here when the next date is announced.

Line dancing: four mornings a week

The Bangkok Line Dance Meetup is about a hundred people, international and Thai, many of them retired, who meet at Urban Dance Studio in Prasarnmit Plaza off Sukhumvit 23 four times a week and split the room hire at 200 THB each. Monday afternoon is for beginners, Tuesday morning for high beginners, Thursday for intermediate and Saturday for the fast dancers. Nobody is a teacher; members take turns leading about twenty dances to folk, country and pop. Sign up on Meetup or in the Line group each time so the room is the right size. There is no line-dancing bar in Bangkok; a Floridian who asked Reddit about Soi Cowboy was told, kindly, what Soi Cowboy is.

Zouk, contact improv, conscious dance, capoeira, K-pop

Brazilian zouk has a Thursday night at Euphoria from the Bangkok Zouk Family: a first-step class at 20:00, an open class with Nicha at 20:30 and a 100% zouk social to midnight, and in November three workshops with the world champions Bruno and Fae at the Step'n'Flow studio on Soi 11. Contact improvisation has a 2,400-member Facebook group, ContactImprovBKK, with weekly jams it does not publish on an open page; the group is the place to ask. Conscious dance: Dance Temple ran free alcohol-free evenings at Valour on Silom Soi 4 in July 2026 and has not posted a date since; Solar Life's occasional Solar Dance (ecstatic dance with cacao) is announced on its Meetup between its ice-bath sessions. Capoeira: Capoeira Angola Bangkok trains on Saturday mornings at Silom Plaza and holds a monthly roda for its students; no open roda date is published. K-pop: Random Dance Thailand posts public random-play-dance events on Facebook (Siam Square Walking Street in February 2026, a Halloween one at the end of October); they are irregular and go in the calendar when a date and place are posted. Breaking: the Red Bull BC One South-East Asia cypher came to Bangkok in July 2026, and there is no regular open session we could find.

Festivals and workshops this season

Two festivals land in the first fortnight of November. The AfroKiz Bangkok Festival (fourth edition, 30 October to 1 November, Shanghai Mansion in Chinatown, with a 450 THB welcome party at Glowfish Sathorn on the 29th) is kizomba, urban kiz, semba and zouk in two rooms, passes from 5,560 THB. Latin Bangkok Fiesta (20th edition, 5 to 9 November, Jasmine City Hotel on Soi 23, warm-up at R Bar on the 4th) is Southeast Asia's longest-running Latin festival, four rooms, a live band and pool parties, passes 7,200 and 11,100 THB. Around them: Diego y Sofi's social cha cha cha workshop at BBG on 30 October, Bruno and Fae's zouk workshops on 4, 5 and 9 November, and Rhythm Juice's first-Friday swing party on 6 November. Further out, Breezy Swing in Hua Hin (21 to 29 November), Thailand Latin Extravaganza at the Hilton Asoke (13 to 20 January 2027), Breezy Balboa in Hua Hin (6 to 21 February 2027) and Salsa Bachata Temptation Asia at the Avani Sukhumvit (6 to 8 August 2027).

What is not here, and why

Studio timetables. BBG, rumPUREE, Step'n'Flow, The Hop's courses, Fred Astaire and MODA all publish weekly class schedules. They are courses, not nights out, and the page would be nothing else. Each studio is named above with what it teaches; its parties and open workshops are in the calendar.

Nights with no published time or price. The contact improv jams, the Thai ballroom floors, Capoeira Angola's roda, Random Dance Thailand's next event and the Lumphini Hall ballroom night. They are described above and go in the calendar when the organiser posts a date.

Stale listings that still rank. The two aggregator sites at the top of Google for "salsa Bangkok" have Latin Soul at Assembly Point in Thonglor (it moved to the Red Door), Kizomba Connection on Thursdays at Saint of Salt or PIN.BKK (it is Wednesdays at the Night Hotel) and the Salsa Bangkok party on the first Friday (it is the last). The tango directories list five milongas, all of them gone.

Clubs with Latin music. Havana Social's Thursday to Saturday nights with the Asoke Latino Band, Bafros's Afrobeats and kizomba club nights, and the Latin DJ nights at Above Eleven are clubs, not dance socials, and Chris's brief was the latter. Havana's Sunday is listed because it has the class.

Where can I dance salsa or bachata in Bangkok?

Every night of the week between Nana and Asoke: Hemingway's on Monday, the Red Door and Euphoria on Tuesday, the Night Hotel rooftop and Above Eleven on Wednesday, Spicy Sombrero on Thursday, the BBG studio on Friday, R Bar on Saturday, and the Paradox rooftop and Havana Social on Sunday. Silom has a free night at REVO on Tuesdays. Bachata is the main music; Thursday at Spicy Sombrero and Saturday at R Bar lean salsa.

Do I need a partner or experience?

No. Every Latin night, both swing rooms, the tango nights and the line dance group say so in their own words, and nearly all of them open with a class for people who have never danced. Partners rotate in the class, and pairing people up is the organisers' job.

How much does a night cost?

Between nothing and 450 THB. Barrio Latino at REVO and Salsa On Saturday at R Bar are free with a drink; Latin Glow is 200 THB; most class-and-party nights are 250 to 400 THB with a drink included; Bachata On Mondays' all-levels class and party is 450 THB. Festival passes run 5,000 to 11,000 THB.

Where is swing dancing?

The Hop on Silom Road, Tuesdays and Saturdays from 20:00 with a half-hour beginner class first, and Jelly Roll Jazz Club in Ari, Sundays from 17:30 and Wednesdays from 21:00. The Hop runs a four-week beginners' Lindy Hop course; Rhythm Juice runs two-hour Dance in a Day workshops and a first-Friday party at The Hop.

Is there Argentine tango?

Three small nights: Milonga Tango Mondays at GASTON in the Grand Hyatt Erawan (class 19:00, milonga 20:00 to 23:30, 400 THB with a drink), Tango With Trainers at Euphoria on the second and fourth Wednesdays (free beginner class 19:00, 350 THB with a drink) and El Abrazo's practilonga at rumPUREE one or two Sundays a month. Where can I learn ballroom?

Fred Astaire on Wireless Road and MODA on Sukhumvit 42 teach it privately and in groups; the city youth centres teach ลีลาศ free; Yok Yor in Khlong San and The Greet on Ram Intra have Thai ballroom floors most evenings, an older Thai crowd that will dance with you. None publishes a public social with a time and a price, so they are described rather than listed. The BMA's big-band ballroom nights at Lumphini Hall are announced a few weeks ahead and will be listed when they are.
