About the night

This is the improv you join in with rather than the improv you buy a ticket to sit through. Every other Monday evening the club’s resident Improv All-Stars run a drop-in session upstairs at The Comedy Club Bangkok, playing the short-form games and scenes that shows like Whose Line Is It Anyway? and Theatresports are built from.

There is no script and no prior experience required — the games are explained as you go, and the room is made up of people at every stage from never-done-it to performs-regularly. The organisers pitch it as much at people who want to get more comfortable speaking in front of a room as at anyone planning to go on stage: improv makes you listen, commit to an idea and keep going when it does not land, which is most of what public speaking asks of you.

It runs 6pm to 7.30pm and costs ฿100 a head, paid on the night, which the organisers say goes towards the room’s running costs. They ask that you turn up on time rather than walking into a game halfway through.

The night runs on the first and third Monday of the month, and the dates announced so far are listed below. It is a separate thing from the club’s ticketed improv shows, which are on Friday nights — see Improv at The Comedy Club Bangkok for those.
